What Is a Tulip Setting?

A tulip setting is an engagement ring mounting whose basket, the metal cradle under the diamond, is shaped into a tulip flower. The petals rise around the stone and the prongs grow out of them, so from the side the ring reads as a bloom holding the diamond.
