What makes the Elongated Cushion different
- Length without sharpness: You get the finger-lengthening effect of an oval or radiant, but with rounded corners instead of points, softer to wear and less prone to catching.
- Crushed-ice brilliance: The cushion's facet pattern scatters light in small, glittering flashes rather than broad flashes, a warmer, more romantic sparkle than a round brilliant.
- Looks bigger for the weight: Spreading the same carat weight over a longer outline gives the stone more surface area face-up, so it reads larger than a square cushion of equal size.
Elongated Cushion vs. square cushion
Both are cushions, the difference is proportion. A square cushion sits close to 1.00 to 1.05 length-to-width and reads compact and traditional. An Elongated Cushion runs longer, and that single change makes the ring feel more modern and more elegant on the hand. Most of our settings can be built around an Elongated Cushion center stone. A few that suit it especially well:

How to choose your Elongated Cushion diamond
Ratio is the decision that matters most. 1.15 to 1.35 length-to-width is the range most couples prefer, visibly longer than a square cushion, without looking stretched. Past 1.40 the stone starts to read more like a radiant or an oval. Because the crushed-ice facet pattern hides inclusions well, you can comfortably shop VS2 and still be eye-clean, which leaves more of the budget for size.
