Stienhardt & Stones Return & Exchange Policy

At Stienhardt & Stones, every piece is handcrafted to order with precision, care, and intention.
We understand that purchasing fine jewelry is a deeply personal experience β€” which is why we’ve designed a return policy that’s transparent, respectful, and fair to both our clients and our artisans.


How to Start a Return

To initiate a return, please email our Client Care team at care@stienhardt.com with the following details:

  • Your Order ID

  • The reason for your return

  • Your return shipping address

Once your return is approved, our team will issue a complimentary insured shipping label (for U.S. orders) or provide international return instructions based on your location and the value of your item.


Return Eligibility

All qualifying jewelry can be returned or exchanged for a full refund within 30 days from the ship date or 60 days from your first payment date, whichever comes first.


Return Shipping

Domestic U.S. Orders

All domestic returns include a complimentary insured prepaid shipping label β€” no restocking fees or hidden charges.

International Orders

Return labels for international orders will be provided fro a fee based on location and the value of the item.

  • In most cases, shipping label fees will apply and vary by country.

  • Taxes, duties, and import fees are non-refundable.

  • International returns must be shipped from the original delivery address to avoid additional duties or delays. Customers will be responsible for any duties into the US.


Items Not Eligible for Return

The following items are final sale and ineligible for return or exchange:

  • Custom or personalized jewelry

  • Diamonds that have been specifically sourced for your order

  • Rings made for customers who wish to set their own stone (semi-mounts or empty settings)

  • Custom-cut stones or made-to-order gemstones

  • Pieces marked as Final Sale

  • Rush order fees (these service fees are non-refundable)


The Fine Details

  • Products must be in their original, unworn, and unused condition and include all original paperwork, certificates, and packaging.

  • Custom orders are not eligible for return from the moment of order placement, as each piece is made specifically for you.

  • Layaway or deposit orders are not eligible for return after 60 days from purchase or 30 days from the ship date (whichever comes first).

  • Certified diamonds must be returned with their original grading certificate. A $250 replacement fee will apply for missing certificates.

  • If a complimentary ring sizer was requested or shipped with your order, it must be returned with the jewelry. Failure to return the ring sizer will result in a $75 charge deducted from your refund.

  • Once a ring has been resized, whether by Stienhardt & Stones or any third party, it is no longer eligible for return.

  • Each customer is eligible for one return or exchange every 6 months. Multiple returns within that period will not be accepted.

  • Canceling an or changing an order in production is considered a return and subject to this policy.

  • Pieces that have been altered, resized, or serviced by a third-party jeweler are ineligible for return.

  • The return window begins on the original ship date. If you request a delayed delivery, the return period will still be based on the original ship date.

  • Each ring is meticulously handcrafted and polished by hand, not machine. As a result, every piece carries its own subtle characteristics and unique marks that reflect its handmade artistry; these are not flaws but signs of authentic craftsmanship.

  • Every order also undergoes a detailed quality check, including microscopic inspection, to ensure there are no imperfections such as roughness or scratches on the band. Because of this rigorous process, such issues are highly unlikely to occur.

  • If a customer still has concerns about the quality of their item, we are happy to re-inspect the piece through our standard quality control procedure. Should the item meet our quality standards upon re-inspection, we reserve the right to decline a return or exchange based on this condition.


Refunds

  • Once your return is received and inspected, refunds are processed within 10–14 business days to your original payment method.

  • You’ll receive an email confirmation when your refund has been issued. Please allow up to 1 billing cycle for the refund to show up on your credit.


Missed Deliveries & Storage

  • If a customer is unavailable to receive their order and the package is returned to the shipping carrier or undeliverable international orders, the return window will begin on the date of the final delivery attempt as recorded by the carrier.

  • It is the customer's responsibility to track the shipment and ensure receipt within the carrier’s delivery timeframe.

  • Completed orders that remain uncollected for over 4 months are considered abandoned, and Stienhardt & Stones will not be liable.
