Complimentary Engagement Ring Resizing

At Stienhardt & Stones, we understand that finding the perfect ring size can be one of the few things that isn’t perfect about your engagement.
Whether it’s a surprise proposal or a subtle change over time, we’re here to make it rightΒ  because your ring should feel as exceptional as the love it represents.

That’s why we offer one complimentary resizing on all qualifying engagement rings, carefully adjusted by our master jewelers to ensure a flawless, lasting fit.

Please Note: From November 1 through January 5, our Repairs Department will be temporarily closed as we prioritize time-sensitive holiday orders. We appreciate your understanding during this busy season.


Eligibility

Complimentary resizing applies exclusively to:

  • Engagement rings purchased directly from Stienhardt & Stones

  • Requests made within 6 months of the original purchase date

Please note: this complimentary service is reserved for engagement rings only.
Wedding bands, fashion rings, anniversary rings, and other non-engagement styles do not qualify for free resizing.


Not Eligible

Certain designs cannot be resized due to their construction or design integrity:

  • Eternity bands (stones set all the way around)

  • Shared-prong settings

  • Rings with exterior engraving, milgrain, or patterned detailing

  • Rings featuring birthstones or colored gemstones

  • Custom or complex designs that cannot safely accommodate resizing


Resizing Limits

Each ring is individually assessed to preserve both its structure and aesthetics:

  • Solitaire bands: Up to 2 full sizes up or down

  • Half-diamond bands (50% coverage): Up to 1 full size up or down

  • Three-quarter bands (75% coverage): Up to Β½ size up or down

  • Wide bands (over 3.5mm): Resizing is possible but limited, depending on band thickness and strength

If your requested size exceeds these parameters, our team will provide personalized solutions such as a new shank or remake.


How to Request a Resizing

1. Email Our Care Team

Email care@stienhardt.comΒ  with your Order ID and desired new size.

2. Drop-Off or Ship

  • New York Clients: Complimentary resizing is available when dropped off at our Manhattan Workshop.

  • Outside NYC: You may ship your ring to our studio. Customers are responsible for insured shipping costs both ways.

For your protection, we strongly recommend purchasing your insured return label directly through Stienhardt & Stones.
Our labels are fully insured, and coverage is valid only when the package is shipped using our provided label.

If you choose to ship independently, please note that Stienhardt & Stones is not liable for lost or damaged packages until they are received and signed for at our studio.


How to Ship

Please follow these steps carefully to ensure safe and secure delivery:

  1. Secure the ring in a sturdy, plain box ,Β  do not include any labeling or wording that identifies jewelry or contents of value.

  2. Do not include original boxes, pouches, or diamond certificates.
    For security reasons, these items are not returned after resizing.

  3. Drop off the package only at a manned FedEx location.

    • Do not use FedEx drop boxes, Walgreens, Staples, or other third-party partners these locationsΒ invalidate insurance coverage.

    • Stienhardt & Stones is not liable for packages until they are physically scanned at a staffed FedEx location.

  4. Keep your tracking number and receipt until your ring has been confirmed as received.

All resized rings are returned in our signature repair packaging, designed for discretion, protection, and elegance.


Turnaround Time

Resizing takes approximately 7–14 business days from the date your ring is received at our studio.
Each piece is handled with precision and care, and this timeline cannot be expedited.


International Clients

International customers are also eligible for one complimentary resizing within 6 months of purchase.
However, all shipping costs, duties, taxes, and import fees are the client’s responsibility for both inbound and outbound shipping.


A Note from Our Jewelers

Every resizing is performed by our master craftsmen, who treat each ring with the same care and artistry as the day it was made.
Your ring will be cleaned, polished, and inspected before being returned.

Under close inspection, faint evidence of resizing may be visible a subtle hallmark of authentic hand craftsmanship.Β Certain design elements, such as Euro shanks and Engravings may be removed or refined during resizing to maintain structure and comfort.Β 

FAQ's

Yes, if you would like to have your engraving redone after resizing, there is a $30 re-engraving fee. Due to the nature of resizing, engravings may become faint or not visible, and re-engraving is a separate process that requires additional time and labor.

You are entitled to request resizing without any changes in the pricing policy within 90 days of initial purchase. After this time elapses, resizing services may attract other charges.

Right, but the free resizing applies to one adjustment on an item only. More adjustments may attract a small adjustment charge.

We suggest going through the Ring Size Buying Guide for helpful advice on knowing your size. Alternatively, you can get your size professionally measured at any local jeweler.

There is, however, an adding shipping fee will be charged since customers outside the country can access the resizing service. In this case, request for help from our support team.

For jewelry items that cannot be resized, our team will aim to provide other options, including modifying the design of the existing piece or creating a new one.
